About the Trust
The Little River Wairewa Community Trust is a registered charitable trust working to support a connected, sustainable and thriving community across the Wairewa area.
Our community area includes Birdlings Flat, Cooptown, Little River, Okuti, Puaha and the outer Southern Bays
What we do
The Little River Wairewa Community Trust is a representative voice for our community. We work alongside our Community Boards, Rūnanga, Christchurch City Council, Environment Canterbury and other organisations to apply for funding and oversee projects that develop local facilities, grow events and support community wellbeing.
Our aim is a connected, sustainable and thriving community whose cultural, environmental and economic needs and aspirations are met — across the Lake Wairewa and Southern Bay catchments and beyond.
Current and recent projects include water management improvements, walkway development, playground upgrades, historic building preservation, pest management, sustainability initiatives and community events including the annual community breakfast.
Get involved
We welcome anyone who wants a say in how our community grows and develops.
We meet on the first Monday of every month at 7:30pm in the Meeting Room at the Little River Service Centre.
Come along and see what we’re about.
