BANKS PENINSULA BEACHES
A safe, sandy, safe swimming beach. Popular with families for day picnic. Approx. 30mins from Little River.
Follow shingle Road from the top of Kinloch Road.
One of the popular surfing spots on the Peninsula with a Point Break on a southerly swell. Stony beach. Access from Kinloch Road to Summit, Turn right then left down Tumbledown Bay Road. Turn Right into Magnet Bay Road half way down. Sign Posted. Approximately 40 mins from Little River. Rough Gravel Road from the summit.
May see seals, birdlife, Shingle Road in through farm land. Nice to picnic but not safe for swimming.
Sandy, Safe swimming beach. Camping ground. Store, Private museum. Lagoon, fishing and walks.
A popular most northern surfing beach. Good in most conditions. Hazards include rips and rocks. Nice for swimming and a picnic with a lovely sandy beach.
Can only take the car so far though so quite a walk in and out with your gear but worth it if you are keen.
Get there from Chorlton Road from Little Akaloa or Okains Bay. Rough Shingle Road.
An exposed Bay that has quite reliable surf and can work at any time of the year. Offshore winds blow from the North. Wind swells and ground swells in equal measure an the best swell direction is from the Southwest. Waves of the Beach Break are left and right. It is sometimes crowded here. Take care of rips and rocks.
A lovely picnic spot on the grass under the trees. Beach safe for swimming. Fishing off the Wharf. St Lukes Anglican Historic Church and walks up the hill. Toilets. Wilderness Camping area. Public telephone.
Lovely Sandy beach safe for swimming. Large Domain at end of beach road is good for a picnic. Tennis Courts, Picnic tables, toilets.
